The Complex of the Palace is massive, encompassing 2 square miles, from miles away it is easily seen. And surrounding it is three massive sets of walls, each more magnificent and menacing than the one before. Each armed to the crevice making Kakizaki Palace into a virtual fortress. Every man wishing to enter must pass through one of four checkpoints of the gigantic square. The first is under command of an elderly gentleman named Hoshiyuki, he has a virtual small army of guards at every wall around him and he is the one that allows a man to pass through the first gate. The second gate is lead by a shady character named Yukito Kitabatake, his guard is significantly smaller than Hoshiyuki's but has more skilled men, as well Yukito is a master of several martial arts and is an expert of the use of the sword. The third gate is lead by an Arquebus user named Joao Clemont of Portugal. He was excommunicated by the church and somehow managed to get to Japan unscathed he now finds employ under Suehiro. He has ten men all armed with arqubuses. The Final gate is lead by a man that has no name. He has two guards that he himself brought with him. Suehiro trusts him despite not knowing a thing about him. He has never let a man pass by his gate and has killed all who tried without any harm being done to him or his guards. Most of those who travel from afar go to Joao's gate, those seeking service go to Yukito, those who are already in the employ of Suehiro use Hoshiyuki's gate.
