Name: Asato Kagesu
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Primary Weapon of Choice: Naginata
Secondary Weapon of Choice: Katana
Signature Hand: Right
Character Type: Warrior
Physical Appearance: Asato wears his black hair relatively short, growing it only as far as his chin. He has dull, green eyes. Asato is clean shaven, and goes to some lengths to ensure that he remains that way. He's of a moderate build, one sufficient for him to play the part of the ronin, but not so much so that he might be able to turn a live man into a bloody and limbless corpse in a fistfight. Scars run along his arms and chest, the results of numerous close calls with his foes.
While he does have a full wardrobe of numerous colours of robes and clothing, he prefers to wear almost solely black outfits, trimming them as needed in the colours of his lord depending on his own preferences.
Weight: 92 kilos
Height: 1.77 metres
Build: Moderately built
Likes: Horsemanship, Dueling, Discussions, Reading and Writing Poetry, Reading and Writing Histories, Hunting
Dislikes: Long Journeys, Lethargy, Filth, Oppressive lords, Arrogance
Strengths: Perceptive, Dexterous, Calm of Temper, Charismatic
Weaknesses: Foolhardy, Flatterer, Apathetic, Hasty, Rapacious, Mock Modesty, Occasional Drunkard
Personality: Asato can be somewhat an enigma, his personality ranging from calm wisdom to impatience. He cares for the opinions of others, and goes to lengths to try and curry favour, except when his religion becomes one of those matters. He takes matters of honour extremely seriously and is occasionally too quick to enter into a bond with another. Because he seeks to curry favour, he is quick to praise those in higher positions, as well as downplay his own accomplishment, particularly when he thinks being humble will advance him in station. Some would consider Asato to be foolhardy, and he has on more than one occasion run forth into a situation without fully gauging it.
Religiously, Asato is at a crisis, and sees the growing sects of Christianity, but isn't sure what to make of them. He has read their holy books, and has contemplated on their teachings. However, he still feels a strong traditional connection to the Shinto and Buddhist beliefs that were quite common prior to the appearance of the Europeans.
Background: Asato was born in Izu province in 1444. His family was quite well off, his father an advisor to the Shogun as well as holding dominion over several thousand peasants who farmed his vast feudal domain, which consisted of much of the province. As the Ashikaga Shogunate lost power, his father left their service and returned home, becoming a local warlord in his own right. Asato was still at the time loyal to the shogunate, and abandoned his father to his fate as the Shogun's heavy arm came down upon him. For his loyalty, he was gifted his father's confiscated domains, and from there, it is that Asato kept his position. SInce then, however, he has seen that the Ashikaga have become corrupt and ineffective as more warlords rise up through the islands. Asato sold his holdings and used teh money to equip himself rather lavishly before becoming a ronin, looking for a worthy lord to take him in. His estate has since been confiscated by the Shogunate, and it is Asato's eventual goal to reclaim his home in Izu and to settle down there once more when peace finally returns to the hills and valleys of Japan.
