The conversation in the front rooms had started to grate on Asato. All this talk of politics and manoeuvring and finding lords wasn't something that Asato wanted to think about for the time being. When he saw that others had entered the back room, Kagesu took note and, after finishing only the second cup of wine, excused himself from his companion and made his way to the back room. The former monk followed in tow.
Asato ordered himself a room for the next several nights as he plotted his own next move, and changed into his black robes, shedding his armour and weapons into the chest beside his bedroll. In due time, after making himself presentable in his black robes, made his way to the tea room, sliding the door open slowly and quietly. He bowed to the two men already in the room, deep in conversation.
"I apologize, sirs, for intruding on your discussion, but would you be so kind as to add two more to the discourse?" Asato spoke politely and softly, a slight smile crossing his mouth.

"No, while I do think that being kind to others and being a decent person would allow for a decent life, and possibly allow me to go to heaven I do not follow the tenants. In fact I am anything but a follower of Buddha. I actually may identify myself with the funny speaking foreigners from afar. But would I consider myself one of them? no. But I can at least agree with many of them." *Again befuddled by Suehio's response, Hasshi took another sip of tea and thought 'This man sure talks like a Buddhist...' 'The Foreigners from afar? who do you mean? surely you aren't refering to my people are you?' EDIT: OOC: sorry fo not noticing you Asato... *at that moment, another figure walked through the door, Hasshi was once again, intrigued* 'but of course! i always have time to talk with the Enlightened, what is your name good sir?'

"Not your people, but from men so very far away. I believe they called themselves Portuguese"
Acknowledging the man Suehiro stood up and offered him a seat. "Hello, may I ask you your name?"

"My name would be Asato Kagesu," Asato said, taking a seat. Kotubawa did the same next to Asato.
"And I am called Kotubawa Doshe," the white-clad young man replied. He helped himself to a cup of the black tea. Asato partook of the yellow.

After bowing towards the men, he offered them a seat.
"If you are interested please come join us, if not I am sure we can change the subject"
Looking at Hasshi with a reassuring look.

"I shall answer the question posed, for it is one that I have thought on at length in the past. We come from the earth, and we return to the earth. The heavens are for those that commit exhalted deeds, the Emperor, and the Gods. I believe also that as of this moment we are at the pinnacle of our age, and that it is Man's duty on this earth in this generation to prolong, perhaps even reverse, the impending decline. Men of the past have done so, with the Gods' blessings, and I firmly believe that the world is cyclical, and we are yet again at the point where those blessed shall make or unmake the world in their image," Kasegu responded, his answer spoken such that it was clearly as well and deeply considered as he claimed.

Suehiro peered into the cup of tea as Asato spoke. What he said was true. But he feels different about who would actually make it into the heavens.
"Only the exhalted can make it into heaven? Those who's deeds reverberate across the heavens? What of those that are kind and save others. Those who become doctors and heal men with their herbs and prayers. These deeds are not considered exhalted by many. While to those they save they are the greatest of deeds"
Suehiro looked at Asato with kind hearted eyes, and understanding was written on his countenance.
"I believe those that live a good and fulfilling life that are not tainted by vanity or greed shall make it to heaven, while those that do great deeds but are written with vanity and greed. Shall not ascend into the heavens. I believe only the good and the just shall join with the emperor and the gods."

"But did I mention just what made a deed exalted, or from whence the exultation had to come from? You jump to far too many conclusions. The kindly doctor and the mighty warlord are each praised and exalted in their own ways. The doctor is forever remembered in his patient's minds, in much the same way as the warlord is written into the scrolls of history. Just because it is the warlord remembered in a century's time does not make the doctor's contribution any less important or noble," Asato nodded and sipped on his tea as he read his new found companions' faces for their reactons.

'The gods! what nonsense is this!' scoffed Hasshi, 'surely men of such wisdom and talent don't believe in that nonsense, do you?' *angrilly Hasshi swallowed the rest of his tea, and regaining his composure, poured another cup of tea for himself* 'since the two of you *not adressing Doshe since his beliefs are yet unknown* place so much faith in your gods, let me pose this question to you both, there is only one Son of Heaven, and if your precious kami are as great as both of you seem to say they are, why is it that Dai Ming's Emperor is wise, virtuous and controls a large and powerful state while the ancestors of Ameratsu are weak and powerless and control virtually nothing?'

Once understanding of the man opposite him he now turns to anger and rage over such a dissenting opinion.
"I am sorry Asato, Hasshi... why are you are ignoring the lad? And why are you so quick to raise your voice. This is a peaceful conversation"

Turning back to Asato
"When men do good deeds they will be rewarded. Is this not true?"

Kotubawa sat in silence and observed the things going on at his table.
As for Asato, he spoke once more: "I speak of Gods as a general term, as I think it stands equally true, be they the Kami, the Deva, or the Christian God and his Saints. I have read and am versed in them all, and as such feel like must speak in generalities. Where, though, do I stand personally on the matter? I ascribe to none of them, and look to them all, for the time being, purely from an interesting and purely educational or philosophical position. Regarding your explanation of our weak Emperor here, though the strong Ming, I already answered that, however indirectly: those that have realised they are blessed are set to unmake the world. They that might remake or hold this world together have yet to realise their mandate."
"'Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God' the Christians say. I'm inclined to think they might be right. To be pure, however, as I said, is not a guarantee of heaven - for to be pure but ignored is not the way to the heavens. Recognition must be gained," Asato agreed.
